Freezing rain advisory issued

A freezing rain advisory is in effect from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. today, according to the National Weather Service. Freezing rain, possibly mixed with a short period of sleet, is expected to move into the area. By early evening, temperatures are expected to rise to above freezing, with rain falling from early evening into the night.

Ice accumulations of a couple of tenths of an inch are expected before temperatures rise above freezing later in the day. Any liquid precipitation likely will freeze on contact and result in icy and dangerous travel conditions. Sidewalks and walkways also could be covered with ice.

The advisory suggests that residents should be prepared for slippery conditions and use caution when driving.
