Oberweis named to committees

State Sen. Jim Oberweis, R-Sugar Grove, has been named to five Illinois Senate committees by Senate Republican Leader Christine Radogno, R-Lemont, for the 98th General Assembly.

The 25th District senator has been asked to serve as Republican spokesperson for the Labor and Commerce Committee, which examines legislation affecting business and labor communities and impacting the state’s economy, jobs and trade.

He will also serve as a member of the Appropriations I, Environment, Local Government, and Public Health committees.

The Appropriations I Committee reviews legislation concerning the state’s budget and fiscal matters

The Environment Committee handles legislation that addresses recycling and the environment.

The Local Government Committee considers legislation addressing the needs of villages, towns, cities, townships, counties and other municipalities

The Public Health Committee examines bills relating to public health, health-care facilities and health-care access issues.
