Teen, 18, charged in battery at Geneva High School

GENEVA – An 18-year-old was charged with battery against a 15-year-old in a Jan. 18 incident at Geneva High School, according to police reports.

Tyler J.D. Olsen, of the 800 block of Howell Drive, Geneva, was charged with misdemeanor battery. He posted $150 bail, 10 percent of his $1,500 bond, and is scheduled to appear in court Tuesday.

Olsen is charged with intentionally causing bodily harm by throwing a water bottle that struck the 15-year-old, pushing him into a vending machine and punching him with a closed fist.

The charge carries a penalty of up to a year in jail and fines of up to $2,500.

The incident occurred at 10:13 a.m. in the vestibule entry doors of the Mack Olsen gym, according to police reports. Police did not know whether Olsen is a student at the high school. Geneva School District 304 spokeswoman Kelley Munch said the district does “not comment on student discipline matters or confirm student attendance.”
