Traffic moving again in Elburn after train causes delay

ELBURN – Route 47 traffic in the village was stopped for nearly two hours this morning, as a Union Pacific train had a mechanical issue that needed to be addressed.

Tom Lang, a Union Pacific spokesman, said the train needed to be repaired, but he didn't have details about the specific mechanical issues.

"It's kind of like if your car breaks down," Lang said, adding there was no danger.

Cars were stuck in traffic starting at about 7:20 a.m., Village President Dave Anderson said. Traffic stretched north nearly to Route 38 from the tracks, which sit in the village's downtown area.
