Hatcher news release: Hatcher takes a leading role on Transportation, Tourism committees

State Rep. Kay Hatcher, R-Yorkville, issued the following news release:

State Rep. Kay Hatcher, R-Yorkville, will take a leading role on transportation safety issues coming before the Illinois House this spring and next. Hatcher has been named Republican spokesperson on the House Transportation-Vehicle Safety Committee, which works closely with the Illinois Department of Transportation on safety issues involved in road improvement.

“As our Fox Valley infrastructure expands to meet the needs of a growing population, working to ensure roadway safety is more important than ever, so I’m especially pleased to be serving as Spokesperson on the Transportation-Vehicle safety committee. This appointment provides motorists in our area a stronger voice when improvement plans are working their way through the committee process.

This spring Representative Hatcher will also be the leading voice for the House Republican Caucus on the House Tourism and Conventions Committee. “My extensive background in the tourism industry makes this appointment a good fit as well. At its core, promoting tourism is about creating jobs and that’s going to be key as we continue to work to kick-start what’s been a very sluggish economic recovery,” Hatcher said.

“Spokesperson positions are highly coveted, and essentially mean that your expertise and your ability to lead the committee debate have been recognized. I’m very honored to have been selected to serve as Spokesperson on two crucial committees this spring and next,” Hatcher said.

Hatcher’s other committee assignments for the 98th General Assembly includes the Public Utilities Committee which is tasked with updating the state’s Telecommunications Rewrite to maintain Illinois’ competitive edge in telecommunications technology. She will also serve on the Accountability and Administrative Review Committee, the Human Services Committee and the Appropriations-General Services Committee.
