AURORA – The Rosary girls basketball team stormed back from an eight-point deficit going into the fourth quarter Tuesday to rally for a 56-51 win against Plainfield Central in the Royals’ regular-season finale.

Rosary coach Jessie Wilcox said her team wreaked defensive havoc from about the 6 minute mark to the 4 minute mark of the fourth quarter.

“[Karly Tate] got like three, long-court pass interceptions and took them in for layups within that stretch right there, and Quincy Kellett hit some big free throws for us down the line,” Wilcox said.

Tate led Rosary (15-10) with 13 points and Rachel Choice added 11.

Wilcox said it was a key win heading into regionals.

“It was good because it just brings us momentum,” Wilcox said. “If we would have lost tonight it would have been hard to fight back, especially with a tough schedule ahead of us [in regionals].”

St. Charles East 64, Oswego 46: At Oswego, Katie Claussner scored 17 points, Amanda Hilton had 16 and Carly Pottle added 12 to lead the Saints (15-11) to the nonconference win.

Claussner’s hot start to the game and the Saints’ ability to score in transition as the game unfolded worked in East’s favor, coach Lori Drumtra said.

Kaneland 50, Marengo 34: At Marengo, Emma Bradford scored 14 points and Ashley Prost added 10 points and eight rebounds as the Knights (15-10) earned the nonconference win. Sarah Grams added a season-high seven assists for Kaneland.

Wheaton Academy 43, Guerin 25: At River Grove, Jamie Netzley led Wheaton Academy with 11 points as the Warriors claimed a Suburban Christian Conference Gold win.

Burlington Central 74, Harvard 27: At Harvard, Central (9-13, 7-1 Big Northern Conference East) was led by 15 points from Bryce Warner and 12 off the bench from Sean Fitzgerald in a lopsided conference win.

Wheaton Academy 55, Walther Lutheran 42: At Melrose Park, Wheaton Academy improved to 17-5 with the SCC Blue win.

Gordon Behr (16 points) and Brandon Ruggles (12 points, 13 rebounds) assured the Warriors at least a share of their fourth straight conference title.

St. Francis 61, Joliet Catholic 46: At Joliet, Andrew Kimball scored 17 points, Jason Pisarski had 15 and Tim Zettinger added 14 as St. Francis (17-4) overcame a slow start to pull away for the win.
