Letter: Paying the check

To the Editor:

These words from President Obama regarding the need to raise the federal debt ceiling were quoted by the Chicago Tribune: "This is not a complicated concept. You don't go out to dinner and then, you know, eat all you want and then leave without paying the check. And if you do, you're breaking the law."

Isn't that exactly what the Illinois General Assembly means to do in the name of pension "reform" with the blessing of much of the state media?
