Fireworks show in need of more funds
BATAVIA – This year’s Fourth of July fireworks show might be canceled unless organizers can raise $50,000.
The city’s Fourth of July fireworks are funded solely through private donations. The show costs $40,000 to put on, said Mark Davis, chairman of the Batavia Fireworks Committee.
“We need to raise more than that in case of cost overruns,” Davis said. “All of the reserves we had have been depleted. We’re down to almost nothing. The last four or five years we’ve been dipping into the reserves to keep the show going.”
