Kane County Coroner Rob Russell issued the following news release:

Kane County Coroner Rob Russell is making sure that the Kane County Coroner's Office embraces social media. Today, the coroner's office officially launched its Facebook page, www.facebook.com/kanecountycoronersoffice.

Russell stated, "It is important for us to connect with the public through social media, and Facebook is a great way to do that. We hope that this medium will be an important source of news and education for the citizens of Kane County."

The goal of the Coroner's Facebook Page is to keep the public informed with media outlet reports of the cases the coroner's office investigates, to educate people through programs provided by death reduction advocacy groups and to provide information from other governmental agencies, as it pertains to death reduction efforts or the coroner's office.

Russell emphasized, "This is one more way to make the coroner's office more accountable and transparent."
