North girls hoops set for regional rematch

Text Size: AaAaAaAaAa

The St. Charles North girls basketball team will be looking to flip the script against Wheaton Warrenville South when it takes on the top-seeded and host Tigers in a 4A Wheaton Warrenville South Regional semifinal tonight.

The Tigers routed the North Stars, 62-40, in St. Charles in mid-December after building an early 14-0 lead. Wheaton Warrenville South led, 42-18, at the break, but North players know they have made strides since then.

"We just need to keep as much energy as we did [Monday] and just play as a team and win it," sophomore guard Nicole Davidson said.

North topped Glenbard West, 52-45, in an opening-round game Monday. An 18 for 24 effort from the foul line after halftime keyed the victory. North made 16 of 22 free throws in the final quarter.

"I'm really proud of everyone for knocking them down," Davidson said.
