Geneva, STCE girls b-ball 'know each other pretty well' entering regional final

Text Size: AaAaAaAaAa

Asked earlier this week whether the Geneva and St. Charles East girls basketball teams would need overtime for the third time in as many meetings, Saints coach Lori Drumtra laughed.

Another tight game certainly would be fitting as the Saints and Vikings prepare for tonight's 4A STCE Regional final.

"We'll see," Drumtra said. "We know each other pretty well. It has been two great games. I hope it's not a one-sided, lopsided game. But I think it'll be pretty evenly-matched."

The top-seeded Vikings won in OT on their home floor last month, avenging East's win in St. Charles in December. That victory gave the Saints early control of the Upstate Eight Conference River Division race, but the Vikings eventually rallied to win the league title.

East has won six of seven games since falling to the Vikings.

"The girls are playing really well together," Drumtra said. "We've got kind of a set rotation. I think the girls understand their roles. They perform very, very well in those roles."
