BATAVIA – The Albright Theatre in Batavia will present “Hollywood Arms,” by Carrie Hamilton and Carol Burnett, on weekends beginning March 1 and runs through March 16.

Showtimes are 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, and 2 p.m. Sundays.

Inspired by the life story of Carol Burnett, “Hollywood Arms” tells the story of three women living on welfare in a one-room apartment. The story is also about shattered hopes and realized dreams.

According the news release, the characters include a tough, funny, yet tender, pill-popping Christian Scientist grandmother; a beautiful wide-eyed and distant mother and struggling writer, who drowns her ambitions in a bottle; a loving but absent and alcoholic father; and a young girl who escapes by creating her own magical world from her apartment building’s rooftop.

“‘Hollywood Arms’ isn’t ‘The Carol Burnett Show.’ It certainly has humorous moments, but at its heart, it is the story of Carol Burnett’s life growing up in the shadows of glamorous Hollywood, dreaming of a brighter life,” said director Veronica Krystal in the release.

The show is rated PG-14. The Albright Theatre Company is located at 100 N. Island Ave. (3rd floor of the Batavia Government Building), Batavia.
