Thief swipes lottery tickets, cigarettes from North Aurora 7-Eleven
NORTH AURORA – North Aurora police are looking for an armed robber who got away with an unknown quantity of lottery scratch-off tickets and several cartons of cigarettes Thursday morning from the 7-Eleven store at 718 Butterfield Road.
At about 5:15 a.m., a man wearing a mask entered the store and pointed a small black gun at the store’s clerk, according to police. The man demanded cash from the register and the clerk complied, giving him an undetermined amount of cash.
The man also took an unknown quantity of lottery scratch-off tickets and several cartons of cigarettes before he left the store, police said. Police were not able to locate the robber.
The robber has been described as a black man about 6 feet tall and lean, wearing a black and white shirt, black gloves and a black mask. He was armed with what appeared to be a black semi-automatic gun, police said.
Investigators are interested in speaking with anyone who might have seen the man before the robbery or who may have seen him fleeing the scene. Those with information can call the department’s Investigations Division at 630-897-8705, ext. 610. Anonymous tips may be left by choosing option 3.
The village’s last armed robbery occurred in December, when a female employee was robbed outside of the 7-Eleven store at 2 S. Lincolnway as she was transporting store money to the bank.
