Geneva aldermen unanimously approve Western Avenue resurfacing

GENEVA – Aldermen Tuesday unanimously approved an agreement to participate with a federal agency to resurface 1.44 miles of Western Avenue, from Fabyan Parkway to South Street.

The estimated cost of the project is $667,667, of which $500,000 will come from a federal grant and the remaining $167,667 will come from Geneva’s capital improvement program, officials said.

City Administrator Mary McKittrick said the city applied for and was approved for the grant to pay for the bulk of the work to resurface Western Avenue.
