FIRST TEAM

106 pounds: Anthony Bosco, Marmion, Jr.
One of four Cadets from St. Charles to place at the 3A state tournament, Bosco finished fourth and was 37-10 during the season.

113: Brad Martens, Geneva, Sr.
A repeat state qualifier in 3A, Martens competed at 120 in his final high school season and finished his career with 136 victories.

120: Johnny Jimenez, Marmion, Jr.
Three seasons, three state championships. The Kane County Chronicle Wrestler of the Year reigned in 3A after winning 48 of his 50 matches.

126: Jake Field, Marmion, Sr.
Another St. Charles product, Field helped lead a budding group of freshmen in the mat room en route to a state berth. Handed Batavia standout Joel Shump his first loss with win in regional finals.

132: George Fisher, Marmon, Sr.
Fisher, a 47-4 Michigan recruit, notched the lone fall of the 3A state finals when he instinctively secured a front cradle to defeat previously unbeaten Larry Early III of Oak Park-River Forest.

138: Isaiah Vela, St. Charles East, Jr.
Rebounded from an injury-filled sophomore season to return to the 3A state meet, where he took fourth as a freshman. Wrestled at 132 down stretch after competing at 138 in early season.

145: Dan Goress, Kaneland, Sr.
Kaneland’s first state champion since assistant Scott Brewer in 1993, Goress won the 145-pound title in 2A after a 42-3 season he credited to “nothing but hard work.”

152: Keone Derain, St. Charles East, So.
Won 30 matches at 145 and was one of four East athletes to qualify for the 3A state meet under first-year coach Jason Potter, a former Saints state champion.

160: Jon Wagner, Batavia, Sr.
Sturdy senior co-captain delivered his strongest season to date, winning an Upstate Eight Conference title and going 35-8, falling one victory short of qualifying for state.

170: Cam Carlson, St. Charles East, Sr.
Varsity veteran helped the Saints to an unbeaten run to the UEC River Division title and unofficial UEC crown. Won Glenbard North Regional and had 30 victories.

182: Jake Boser, Geneva, Sr.
Opened the winter at 195 before moving to 182 with an eye on a deep postseason run. Won Naperville Central Regional and closed career with a 34-win season.
