Prep roundup. St. Charles North boys basketball loses to Metea Valley

AURORA – The St. Charles North boys basketball team committed three turnovers in the final minute of the first half Thursday, helping ignite a key run for Metea Valley in a 62-53 loss in an Upstate Eight Conference crossover.

North (16-10) was tied at 36-all with the Mustangs before the surge.

“We got off to a very good start and had a letdown right before the half,” North Stars coach Tom Poulin said. “The kids played really hard. The effort was there. There just were a few too many mental mistakes, and Metea is too good to do that against.”
