An alcohol and substance abuse facility is no longer proposed for the former Glenwood School site in unincorporated Kane County.
Patrick Griffin, a lawyer representing Kiva Real Estate Investments, released a brief statement Tuesday morning stating the group's decision.
"Kiva Real Estate Investments LLC has eliminated the former Glenwood School site in unincorporated Kane County from the properties under consideration for establishing its residential alcohol and substance abuse treatment facility," according to the statement.
"Kiva remains committed to its treatment mission and looks forward to identifying a residential treatment site in the near future."
Kiva had been planning to redirect its request to Kane County after the village of Campton Hills rejected its annexation proposal in January. Griffin did not know why Kiva changed its mind, he said.
To his knowledge, Griffin said, he is not aware of Kiva considering other properties in Kane County.
