Letter: 'Building Geneva’s Future Together'
To the Editor:
“There is nothing as constant as change.”
That lesson was one of the first I learned after graduating from college and entering the real world. In about five weeks Geneva voters will have a choice for mayor for the first time since April 3, 2001. It could be time for a change in Geneva.
Why Bob McQuillan for mayor of Geneva?
In the last 12 years, a lot has changed about how people view their elected officials. A level of trust has been lost, and many feel they no longer have a voice. In April 2001, there were 5,354 votes cast in the race for mayor of Geneva. In 2009, only 2,193 voted in the same race. Only 16.4 percent of registered voters across all five wards in Geneva voted in the 2011 consolidated election. My professional experience in sales, marketing, program development and people management will allow me to pursue a focused effort to move Geneva forward. My plan is called "Building Geneva’s Future Together." It is my sincere hope that you trust me to address the issues we face as Genevans and support me in my campaign for mayor.
I believe the next mayor of Geneva needs to focus on the following:
