AURORA – Charles G. Hiscock has been appointed as the new principal of West Aurora High School.
West Aurora School District 129 board made the appointment at its meeting Monday. Hiscock, who will start July 1, replaces West Aurora High School co-principals Ross Truemper and Rudy Keller.
Hiscock, who expects to receive a doctorate in educational administration this spring, has been associate principal of Downers Grove North High School since 2005, according to a District 129 news release. He was picked as West Aurora principal after a selection process involving students, community members and staff, the release stated.
In the past, Hiscock has served as a dean of students, art teacher and coach in his educational career. Hiscock also served in the U. S. Army Military Police Corps and has been employed as an illustrator, the release stated.
Hiscock is working on his doctorate degree at Northern Illinois University, where he earlier earned an education specialist degree in educational administration, the release stated.
He also has master’s degrees in educational administration and fine arts-painting from Governor’s State University.
In addition, he has a bachelor of fine arts degree in art education from the University of Illinois-Chicago and an associate of arts degree from the American Academy of Fine Art.
Hiscock is a member of the Illinois Principal’s Association, National Association of Secondary School Principals, the Education Law Association, Phi Kappa Phi, Palette and Chisel Academy of Fine Arts and ASCD (formerly the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development). He also is an IHSA-certified wrestling official.
