GENEVA – The city of Geneva is seeking applications for appointment to a two-year term as 5th Ward alderman.

The mayor and City Council will make the appointment at the May 20 meeting.

Applications should be submitted to the attention of  5th Ward Alderman Craig Maladra, Geneva City Hall, 22 S. First St., Geneva, IL 60134, between March 18 and April 12.

Applications should include a resume, a short letter of introduction explaining why the candidate is seeking the appointment and the important issues they believe the city is facing. They must have lived in the 5th Ward for at least one year, have been a registered voter and meet other requirements set forth in the city code and state statute. They also should be prepared to commit the time necessary to learn the city’s issues and communicate with constituents and fellow members of the council and city staff.

Candidates may be requested to attend an interview with Maladra and 3rd Ward Alderman Dawn Vogelsberg, who will choose three nominees to be submitted to the mayor.

The mayor then will choose a recommendation to make to the council.
