The DuPage Valley Conference reversed course and is allowing Glenbard East and West Aurora to leave for the Upstate Eight Conference after the 2013-14 school year, the DVC announced on Monday.
The DVC Board of Control previously had voted to hold Glenbard East and West Aurora to a full, two-year waiting period before departing, which would have kept them in the DVC through 2014-15.
In a news release, Wheaton Warrenville South principal Dave Claypool indicated the DVC would next contact schools they are interested in as potential replacements for Glenbard East and West Aurora.
“This decisions is the result of the collective understanding among the Board of Control that the move to the Upstate Eight is in the best interest of both Glenbard East and West Aurora,” Claypool said in the release. “We now set our sights to seeking replacements for them with hopes that the DVC will continue as one of the premier conferences in the state.”
