Face Time with Paul Mayer

Elburn resident Paul Mayer, 69, was going to the Kane County Audubon monthly meeting at Hickory Knolls Discovery Center in St. Charles when he answered 10 questions for the Kane County Chronicle’s Brenda Schory.  

Where did you grow up? Bronx, N.Y.

Who would play you in the movie of your life? Gary Sinise

First job? I went out as a kid around the neighborhood and shoveled snow and sold Christmas cards.

As a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up? Forest ranger. I became a chemical engineer instead.

A movie you’d recommend? “Forrest Gump”

Favorite charity? Fox Valley Crisis Pregnancy Center in Elgin, South Elgin and St. Charles

Hobbies? Birding

Do you have a favorite bird? Canvasback duck

Favorite local restaurant? ZaZa’s Trattoria in St. Charles

What is an interesting factoid about yourself? I was a manager in sales. I still do part-time consulting. I teach people how to sell and how to teach people how to sell.
