Letter: My America

To the Editor:

I’m worried about my country, our beloved America. I do not recognize many things that made us the great country we became under our Declaration and our Constitution.

We have politicians outspending their budgets, or – as in some cases – not even having a budget.

We have illegal citizens who have rights. Millions of babies are slaughtered through “lawful” abortions. We have people wanting to marry their own gender. We have no control over discipline in our schools. Some children are confused about their gender, and they have teachers helping them to figure that out. We have legislators who have no idea what our wonderful Constitution says. We have a Supreme Court that seems bent on changing that divinely-inspired document. We have a federal government so deep in debt because it keeps spending and then wants taxpayers to bail it out.

Mr. Tom Minnerick of Elgin points out in a newspaper Feb. 24 that the government is in crisis because of the Republicans. He is forgetting that the Democratic Party has outspent many previous administrations that have been in charge prior to this administration. A lot of good politicians are not paying attention. We elect our people to hep us, not create a crisis. It seems to me all politicians on both sides of the aisle are out of touch and need to be replaced.

Yes, I worry about my America. I always felt she was My America. But I feel her slipping away from me, and I feel as though America now owns me like chattel. I have faith that our Constitution will hold up and save all of us if only those who can save it will do their duty.
