Prep roundup: St. Charles North girls soccer takes opener

HOFFMAN ESTATES – Hannah Durocher scored a pair of first-half goals Thursday to boost the visiting St. Charles North girls soccer team to a 2-0 victory against Conant in its season opener.

“It was a great first showing,” North Stars coach Ruth Vostal said. “It was the first time we’ve been outside. We’ve been playing in the gym for the past couple weeks, so to get out and be able to spread people out, I thought we did a good job of moving the ball around and connecting.”

Durocher, who did not start the match, scored her first goal about 20 minutes into the contest, then struck again about 10 minutes later. Alex Gage and Elizabeth Parrilli provided assists. Goalkeeper Shelby Stitz had the shutout.

What do you think of people using fireworks near their homes?

That shouldn't be tolerated. It's dangerous.
I'd never do it, but I'll watch others.
It's OK so long as the fireworks are legal.
It's not a problem. It's just a way to celebrate.
I have no opinion.
