GENEVA – Police are investigating the apparent burglary of a gas station near Geneva’s Metra station. Geneva police said someone apparently smashed a glass window at the Citgo gas station and convenience store in the 600 block of South First Street (Route 31).

Police said the incident is believed to have occurred before 5 a.m. Friday.

Police said a cash register was taken from the store. Geneva Police Cmdr. Julie Nash said Monday that approximately $150 had been stolen.

The burglary was discovered by store employees, who called police to the scene shortly before 6 a.m. Friday. The station was open for business throughout the weekend.
