Naperville company moving to Batavia

BATAVIA – A company that makes colorants and additives that are used in products is moving its operations from Naperville to Batavia.

Techmer PM is in the process of setting up its new facility in a 74,000-square-foot building on Douglas Road after outgrowing its 60,000-square-foot facility in Naperville.

“We’ve been pretty successful in growing the business,” said Dwight Morgan, vice president of marketing for Techmer PM.

Techmer PM makes polymer modifiers that are used in different markets, including agriculture, the medical field and the automotive industry. Morgan started Accel Color Corp. in 1998 in Naperville, which Techmer bought in April 2008.

In December, Techmer PM started leasing the building on Douglas Road in Batavia, and the company is in the process of renovating it.

“We are putting in all new efficient lighting,” Morgan said. “We are very committed to being green.”

Techmer is expected to move into the building by summer, which will allow the company to expand operations, he said.

“We currently have eight production lines, and we will be adding one more,” he said. “The new building will give us room to grow.”

The building’s location near Interstate 88 makes it ideal for shipping products, Morgan said.

“We will also use it as a corporate hub for training and customer interaction,” he said.

The building will house about 35 employees, Morgan said. He expects it to add 15 more over the next several years.
