Prep roundup: St. Charles North boys volleyball sweeps opener

FRANKLIN PARK – Kevin Beach and Johnny Orech smacked seven kills apiece Wednesday to help the St. Charles North boys volleyball team defeat Leyden, 25-15, 25-20, in its season opener.

Pat Misiewicz had 16 assists for the North Stars, while Ryan Dal Degan contributed 13 assists.

“The boys looked really good for their first start of the season,” North coach Todd Weimer wrote.

St. Francis boys v’ball remains unbeaten

BARTLETT – The St. Francis boys volleyball team knocked off Bartlett, 25-21, 25-15, on Wednesday in nonconference play.

The Spartans (2-0) were
led by Jeff Jendryk (nine kills, three blocks), Patrick Flood (seven kills) and Alex Shulski (12 assists, eight service points).

North girls water polo falls to Naperville North

NAPERVILLE – The St. Charles North girls water polo team lost, 9-3, to Naperville North.

Nicole Guyett, Megan Calabrese and Maddie Jones scored for the North Stars.
Sarah Stern tallied seven steals.

Geneva girls badminton handles Lancers

ROSELLE – Ann Green and Nicole Schneider were double winners for the Geneva badminton team in the Vikings’ 10-5 victory at Lake Park.

The Vikings (10-1) won
seven of 10 singles matches, including three-game victories from Melanie Burkhardt, Suchada Ritsiri and Colleen Detzler.
