ST. CHARLES – Girl Scout troops, a civic club and a jewelry store were among the groups honored for their participation in the St. Patrick’s Parade, the Downtown St. Charles Partnership announced Thursday.
Held Saturday in downtown St. Charles, the parade featured nearly 80 entries and about 800 participants.
The winners are as follows:
• Children’s showcase: Wild Rose Girl Scout Troop, first; Lincoln Elementary School Girl Scouts, second; and Geneva Cyclones Hockey Club, third.
• Nonprofit showcase: St. Charles Congregational United Church of Christ, first; Lazarus House, second; and Kiwanis Club of St. Charles, third.
• Business showcase: The Filling Station Pub and Grill, first; JP Jewelers, second; and First State Bank, third.
• Best of show: Marquee Youth Stage.
The parade committee was chaired by Craig Larsen of AHC Advisors and included John Hughes of N. Henry and Son; Steve Martin of First State Bank; resident Darlene Riebe; resident Betsy Penny; resident Suzanne Simons; Pam Bierman of Doc Morgan Inc.; Jan Wilson of Hair Capers; Marty Strauss of St. Charles Veterinary Clinic; Shay Clarke of McNally’s Irish Pub; and Officer Erik Mahan of the St. Charles Police Department.
