ST. CHARLES – Two motorists were charged with drunken driving this month during the St. Charles Police Department’s traffic safety campaign centered on St. Patrick’s Day.
The two-week campaign also netted two citations for safety belt violations, two for driving with a suspended or revoked license, 14 for driving without insurance, 11 for speeding and three for other violations.
Officers also issued 39 warnings.
The initiative, which ended Sunday, was part of a statewide program to reduce the number of traffic fatalities. It was done in cooperation with and funded by the Illinois Department of Transportation.
