In Focus: Feeling the Blues

A buzz was in the air Tuesday as the Kane County Cougars prepared for their first season as an affiliate of the Chicago Cubs.

This was my fourth year attending the Kane County Cougars Media Day at the team’s home, Fifth Third Bank Ballpark in Geneva. Each year, photographers and reporters gather in the visiting team clubhouse, set up lights and wait for players to line up for their mandatory head shots.

After their head shots are taken, the players head into the home clubhouse for interviews with reporters. This also was the time they signed the dozens of baseballs the team gives away.

This year was no different, except for the huge C’s all over the stadium and all that Cubbie blue.

It was a nice change of pace.
