North baseball wins behind Wright's stuff

Cory Wright struck out 10 Metea Valley hitters in 6 2/3 innings on Monday, helping the North Stars to a 5-2 victory against the Mustangs.

Sawyer Chambers recorded the final out to notch the save.

North coach Todd Genke, who was celebrating his birthday, said Wright's "solid" outing was the key to helping North even its Upstate Eight Conference record at 2-2.

"Cory threw a great game. He was ahead in the count almost all day," Genke said. "Just an ultimate competitor, and made a couple nice plays defensively on the mound, as well."
