Bodie, Dickson win re-election to Waubonsee Community College board

Waubonsee Community College Board incumbent Richard Bodie and Richard "Shorty" Dickson won re-election to the board Tuesday night.

According to unofficial results, Bodie received 11,364 votes votes, and Dickson received 9,676 votes.

Six people filed for three open seats on the Elgin Community College board of trustees. According to unofficial results, Art Sauceda won the four-year term with 11,692 votes, and Clare M. Ollayos and Angela J. Causey won the two six-year seats.

During the election, the candidates seeking to guide Elgin Community College said they believed the college strongly benefits the communities it serves.

They also stated their support for a $178 million 2009 referendum that paid for improvements at the college. But all, while speaking at a recent candidate forum, said they believe ECC still can do better.

The ECC district includes residents of St. Charles School District 303, Burlington School District 301 and Elgin District U-46.

Each of the candidates said ECC’s future will rely on creating opportunities for students.
