Kane County clerk certifies tax extension

Kane County Clerk John Cunningham certified the tax extension to the county treasurer on April 9, which means property tax bills will go out on time.

The total number of taxable county parcels increased from 192,297 in 2011 to 192,415 in 2012 and the total taxes extended to all districts also increased slightly from $1,161,121,749 to $1,188,768,595. In addition, the total county equalized assessed value declined from $13,770,900,912 to $12,767,733,366 over the same time period, states a news release.

Those with questions about the tax extension can call Susan Ericson, director of tax extension and vital records, at 630-232-5964.
