Prep Roundup: Kaneland girls soccer beats East Aurora

AURORA – The Kaneland girls soccer team concluded the East Aurora Tournament on Wednesday with a 2-0 win against the host Tomcats.

Heather Ortiz had a goal and an assist while Brittany Olson also scored, and Courtney Diddell added an assist for the Knights (2-2-1). 

“I thought we played OK,” Kaneland coach Scott Parillo said. “I don’t think we played outstanding. The wind was certainly a factor in the game.”

BOYS VOLLEYBALL

St. Francis 2, Riverside-Brookfield 0 (25-18, 25-16): At Wheaton, St. Francis improved to 8-2 behind big nights from Patrick Flood (11 kills, three blocks), Jeff Jendryk (six blocks, eight service points), Alex Shulski (eight service points, seven assists) and Robert Smith (12 assists).

GIRLS BADMINTON

St. Charles East 11, West Chicago 4: At St. Charles, Lauren McNally (No. 1 singles) and Sam Nitti (No. 2 singles) provided wins at the top of the lineup for the Saints.

GIRLS WATER POLO

St. Charles North 9, Riverside-Brookfield 3: At St. Charles, Nicole Guyett scored four goals and Hannah Horsfall made eight saves for North (14-4).
