According to reports, Cubs right-hander Matt Garza (strained left lat) is set to make a rehab start when the Cougars host Quad Cities at 6:30 p.m. Friday.
Garza is working himself back to full-time duty. He missed much of the second half of the 2012 season with issues with his right, throwing, elbow.
Cubs officials touted the proximity between Fifth Third Bank Ballpark and Wrigley Field in scheduling rehab assignments as an advantage from the time the Cougars and Cubs signed a two-year player-development contract in September.
With the rehabbing Aramis Ramirez and Reed Johnson in town with then-Cubs affiliate Peoria on July 3, 2009, a Midwest League-record 14,872 fans saw the Cougars and Chiefs in Geneva.
