Sveum: Garza pulled from Cougars rehab stint

Cubs right-hander Matt Garza will not make his scheduled rehab start for the Cougars at Fifth Third Bank Ballpark on Friday, Cubs manager Dale Sveum said.

Garza (strained left lat) will instead throw a simulated game of two innings and 35 pitches Friday when the team travels to Milwaukee. The Cubs were concerned with the inclement weather and field conditions in Geneva.

Asked whether Garza would make any future rehab appearances with the Cougars, Sveum said, "I think Double-A [Tennessee] is what's going on next after this simulated game."
