Roadside safety check to take place Friday evening

ST. CHARLES – The Illinois State Police and St. Charles Police Department will conduct a joint roadside safety check in St. Charles on Friday evening.

Troopers and officers will be on the lookout for drivers who are driving under the influence, transporting open alcoholic beverages, operating unsafe vehicles and driving with a suspended or revoked driver's license. The roadside safety check is part of the "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over" campaign and is funded through a grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

The grant is administered by the Illinois Department of Transportation Division of Traffic Safety.
