St. Charles North's Payne fields offers

The re-recruitment of Quinten Payne is starting to heat up.

Payne, a St. Charles North senior guard and the Kane County Chronicle Boys Basketball Player of the Year, has recently fielded Division I scholarship offers from Eastern Illinois and Ball State, according to Kent Payne, Quinten's father and athletic director at Elgin Community College.

Payne, who scoped out Virginia Tech earlier this month, is expected to visit both Ball State and Eastern this weekend. His older sister, Katlyn, plays on the EIU women's basketball team.

Payne received a release from his letter of intent at Loyola in March after his older brother, Cully Payne, decided not to return to the Ramblers for his senior year. Cully Payne is also considering his options for next season, with Western Michigan expected to receive a visit from Cully Payne in the coming weeks.

The spring signing period for men's basketball is ongoing.
