EASTLAKE, Ohio – The Kane County Cougars squandered leads in both games of a doubleheader Monday, losing 7-6 and 4-2 to the Lake County Captains.
The Cougars held a 6-1 lead entering the bottom of the sixth of the opener. Midwest League doubleheaders consist of seven-inning games.
One bright spot for the Cougars was the team's middle-of-the-order power. First baseman Dan Vogelbach, a highly-touted prospect of the parent Chicago Cubs, smacked solo home runs in both games. His homer in the nightcap was one of two Kane County hits.
Designated hitter Rock Shoulders hit a two-run homer in Game 1.
The Cougars are set to conclude their series in suburban Cleveland at 5:30 p.m. today before returning home for a six-game home stand against Bowling Green and Dayton beginning Wednesday.
