Letter: A pledge of commitment

To the Editor:

Thank you, Geneva, for your confidence in my ability to serve the city as mayor.

For 178 years, Geneva has distinguished itself as the premier community in which to live, learn, work, play and raise a family. Our success is due to the collaborative spirit of elected officials, appointed officials, volunteers, business owners and citizens sharing the same goals – to ensure that our little corner of the earth remains true to its beginnings and trusting of the future.

As we move forward, I pledge to each and every one of you my tireless commitment to serving all 22,000 residents who call Geneva home and the more than 1,100 businesses that have invested their time and treasure to enhance our reputation as a destination community. Moreover, I welcome the opportunity to work with anyone and everyone to ensure that the inevitable debates and discussions held at City Hall are conducted in a way that invites, welcomes and respects all opinions.

On May 6, as I take the oath of office once again, I will do so in honor of those who helped shape the community we call home and strive to enhance the community we will someday bequeath to the next generation.

Kevin R. Burns

Mayor  of Geneva
