Prep Roundup: Miller pitches Aurora Central Catholic baseball past St. Francis

WHEATON – Aurora Central Catholic pitcher Matt Miller continued what has been a dominant season Wednesday, striking out 12 batters in 62/3 innings of work as the Chargers defeated St. Francis, 8-4.

Miller (4-0) has allowed only two earned runs in 30 innings of work this season.

The Chargers (22-3, 10-2 Suburban Christian Conference Gold) got two hits and three RBIs from Phil Schuetz. St. Francis falls to 12-9, 8-4 in the SCC Blue.

Kaneland 10, Rochelle 3 (10 inn.): At Rochelle, Tyler Bellock went 3 for 6 with two RBIs and Joe Komel homered as Kaneland (8-11, 5-5 Northern Illinois Big 12 East) broke open the game with a seven-run top of the 10th inning. Dan Miller and Tyler Limbrunner each had a pair of hits for the Knights.

Geneva 10, Larkin 4: At Geneva, Anthony Bragg went 3 for 4 with a home run and three RBIs and Max Novak pitched a complete game to lift Geneva (12-10, 9-8 Upstate Eight Conference River) to the win.

Batavia 6, Elgin 5: At Elgin, Jacob Piechota and Aaron Hurd drove in two runs apiece as Batavia (16-4, 10-4 UEC River) jumped out to a 6-0 lead and held on to win.

SOFTBALL

St. Charles East 13, Streamwood 3 (6 inn.): At Streamwood, East’s Olivia Lorenzini had two hits, two walks and drove in two runs, and East (21-3, 10-2 UEC River) capitalized on an error-filled day by Streamwood to win its 18th straight game. Alex Latoria (8-1) notched the pitching win.

St. Francis 12, St. Edward 0: At Elgin, St. Francis pitcher Maggie Remus moved to 11-0 and St. Francis (14-3) benefited from four hits and two RBIs from Ali Dittrich.

Immaculate Conception Catholic 2, Rosary 0: At Elmhurst, Rosary (8-9, 5-4) was held to three hits in the SCC loss.

GIRLS SOCCER

St. Charles East 7, Streamwood 0: At Streamwood, Hannah Rawson scored thee goals as St. Charles East (13-5-1, 5-1 UEC River) wrapped up its conference season as runner-up to St. Charles North.

Kaneland 7, Hinckley-Big Rock 0: At Maple Park, Michelle Ortiz scored two goals and Courtney Diddell and Kiandra Powell each had a goal and two assists as Kaneland (8-4-2) rolled to the nonconference win.

BOYS VOLLEYBALL

Metea Valley 2, St. Charles North 1 (25-23, 16-25, 25-20): At St. Charles, Jonathan Orech had 11 kills and two aces and Ryan Dal Degan added 21 digs and two aces but North (20-4) dropped the UEC crossover.
