Johnson's outing steadied sweep of Hot Rods

Strong solid pitching keyed the Cougars' three-game sweep of Bowling Green, which concluded with a doubleheader victory Friday.

It started when the club returned home Wednesday, and right-hander Pierce Johnson came within an out of his first seven-inning outing of the season.

"I finally found my rhythm, I think. There's obviously things I need to work on, but I kept the ball down for the most part and my defense was solid behind me," Johnson said.

The Cougars cooled a Hot Rods team that entered the series at 18-6. Kane County improved to 12-13 and is set to begin a three-game series against Dayton tonight.
