I am writing to announce my resignation from Geneva High School, effective two weeks from this date.
I would like to thank the company for the last four years. I have, in one way or another, learned so much from my time with you. I am sure that many of the skills I learned – such as graphing a hyperbola, annotating 8th century Anglo-Saxon epic poetry, illustrating diagrams of plant cell mitosis and how to play both doubles and singles pickleball – will be very useful to me later in life. I appreciate the company’s lack of emphasis on things like how to fix a flat tire, how to do laundry in college dorms, and how to pay taxes or calculate loan payments. I think other places, such as “Real Life,” put too much emphasis on things like that.
I am also very appreciative of the supportive and compassionate environment my co-workers provided. Though I found most of my co-workers did little work and spent most of their time gossiping, I did manage to find a few people I wouldn’t mind working with again. The quarters I shared with these people added to my enjoyment. Fluorescent lighting, desks that collapsed and non-locking restroom stalls really made the time fly by.
I think the best part of working at this company was my experience with the higher management. I did have several superiors who regularly provided me with extra help and support. These people constantly reassured me about my progress, encouraged me, pushed me and did all this while letting us have fun.
The few members of higher management who really made me feel great about myself, my skills and my future will be some of the most difficult things to forget about my work at GHS.
In short, I am sorry to leave the company, but I have already secured another place of employment and am very excited about my prospects. I would love to stay at GHS, but I think that if I spend one more minute in there, I will pull out every single hair on my head and scream for as long as I possibly can.
