U.S. Rep. Bill Foster, D-Naperville, issued the following news release:
Gov. Pat Quinn requested federal assistance for 11 Illinois counties impacted by severe flooding in April. The counties listed include Cook, DuPage, Kane, Kendall and Will. Following the declaration, Congressman Bill Foster requested the White House quickly approve the assistance to ensure those impacted get the resources they need.
“While the waters may have receded, many families, businesses and local governments face thousands of dollars in damage as they deal with the aftermath of the flood,” said Foster. “Today, I personally contacted the White House to make sure they understand the urgency of this request to communities and families in Illinois.”
Foster joined all the members of the Illinois delegation in sending a letter to President Obama in support of Governor Quinn’s request for federal assistance. A copy of the letter can be found at https://foster.house.gov/sites/foster.house.gov/files/IL%20delegation%20LOS%20--%20flooding%2005%2009%2013.pdf.
Foster will attend a community meeting in Lisle to discuss the flood and hear from village residents who have been affected.
