DeKALB – The Burlington Central softball team scored two runs in the seventh inning Monday to knock off DeKalb, 5-3, for a nonconference win.

An RBI sacrifice fly by Emily Kisch and an RBI double by Lauren King allowed the Rockets (24-2) to pull back ahead after the Barbs (18-6) tied the game at 3 in the sixth inning.

“I thought it was a good win. We made a couple of defensive mistakes, but overall I think we had a nice day against two good pitchers,” Central coach Wade Maisto said. “ ... We’re putting base runners [on] almost every inning and we’re getting something going. Overall, I was happy.”
