Thoughts on Theo
Here's some further Cougars reaction on Cubs president Theo Epstein, who sat behind home plate during Wednesday's matinee against Peoria.
Check out Thursday's Chronicle for more.
Right-hander Tayler Scott, who threw 7 1/3 innings of two-hit ball to earn the win in a 4-0 victory:
"I actually had no idea that he was here until after. Someone told me that Theo's here. I was like, 'Oh, really.' That's pretty nice, to have him out there watching."
Right fielder Bijan Rademacher:
"I didn't [see Epstein] until maybe the third inning, when some people were talking about it and I didn't believe them, and I looked over and I recognized him. But it didn't change how I played or anything. I was still playing hard, going after it I wasn't trying to do anything extra or out of the ordinary."
Manager Mark Johnson:
"I think that they finally are kind of comfortable with all eyes on them at any time, you know. I think last year at [Short-A] Boise, some of these guys were petrified when somebody would come in town. I think they're getting used to it, which is part of development. It's good that they're over that – I shouldn't say 'fear' – but that other thing that can affect their play."
