'People coming out of the woodwork' for state-bound North boys v'ball

Several St. Charles North boys volleyball players took to social media before Tuesday's Bartlett Sectional final match against Lake Park in a bid to grow the turnout.

With North now bound for Friday's 6 p.m. state quarterfinal against Oak Park-River Forest at Hoffman Estates, the North Stars have found their fan base is boosting itself.

"We've got people coming out of the woodwork. People saying, 'I'm going to be there,' and they graduated five years ago," North Stars coach Todd Weimer said Wednesday. "We're just extremely excited and we know this is a very rare opportunity, and it's come at the right time with the right group of boys."

North boasts 12 seniors on its roster, and Weimer and Co. have touted their experience throughout the season.
