Rosary softball takes 'next step'

Upstart Rosary ended its softball season with a 6-1 loss to Marengo in Wednesday's 3A Rochelle Sectional semifinal.

Rosary finished the season 13-19.

"I'm certainly not disappointed with the kids," Royals coach John Kazmierczak said. "Today we didn't hit, we didn't come out smokin' like in past games, but the kids battled. This is only our fourth regional ever and obviously this is the next step."

The Royals knocked off top-seed Kaneland in the regional final just one week after the Knights cruised to a sweep in a doubleheader to end the regular season.
