Offense not swayed to one side for North boys v'ball

If a balanced attack is the goal of each boys volleyball team at today's IHSA state quarterfinals at Hoffman Estates, the numbers suggest St. Charles North need not worry.

Seniors Kevin Beach and Jonathan Orech enter North's 6 p.m. game against Oak Park-River Forest with 246 kills apiece.

To North setter Pat Misiewicz, the symmetry doesn't stop there.

"We're all even. We have strengths on all the sides," Misiewicz said. "Jon and Beach are a strength at the outside. Jack [Harbaugh] is a strength on the right side, and then our middles [Zach Ziesmer and Jake Hamilton] are really good. They're coming along at the end of the season."

North (30-6) is making its first state appearance, while OPRF (20-18) is there for the 13th time. Stay tuned to Twitter for updates during the match, then check out Saturday's Chronicle for more.
