Krol makes MLB debut

Former Cougars lefty Ian Krol, a Neuqua Valley product, made his Major League debut for the Washington Nationals in Wednesday's game against the New York Mets.

Krol worked around a leadoff double and wild pitch to strike out the side in a scoreless sixth, fanning Daniel Murphy, David Wright and Lucas Duda – New York's No. 2, 3 and 4 hitters.

Krol was a MWL All-Star in 2010, when the Cougars were an Oakland Athletics affiliate. Washington acquired him in March as part of a three-way deal with Oakland and Seattle.
